Founded by designer Sigurd Bank, who comes from a background in clothing production and sourcing, Copenhagen based brand mfpen presents its collection for autumn/winter 2017. Dubbed “No Place for Distant Space”, the collection builds on a baseline of subtle garments with rather significant characteristics, created through a heavy emphasis on both fabrics and detailing. Designed with the Copenhagen living in mind, the collection also caters itself to the unreliable, rough Scandinavian weather with the use of water repellent fabrics, durable cotton ripstop and wool blends. Adding a more playful approach to its design, the styles of mfpen comes in irregular shapes, boxy fits, and cropped legs.
GQ wrote about the SS17 collection: “The sort of clothing that would be impressive if you invested in one standout piece, but would really come into its own if you owned an entirely interchangeable wardrobe of it. Sophisticated and relaxed, it’s the sort of collection that any man would look better in – and immediately feel like they are the best-dressed man in the room.”
