Ever since the beginning Deadwood has been a statement of rebellion against worn out dogmas. The core of the brand will always be anti-establishment and counter culture. Using mainly recycled materials, especially leather, each garment combines punk inspired aesthetics with a green cause. Carl Ollson and Felix von Bahder founded the company in 2012. The two buddies met as colleagues in a jean shop in Stockholm and after a few years of dreaming they soon came to open their own vintage boutique.
There they cultivated their fascination for timeless design as well as their love for used, pre-loved clothes. Out of that shop a brand evolved, and more so – a way of doing things in a different way. The clothing industry, today a 3 billion dollar industry globally, is one of the dirtiest in the world Deadwood sets out to change all of that! For leather garments Deadwood uses post consumer waste, basically chopping up old leather garments that have reached their expiration date in terms of style, turning them into new beautiful looking jackets and accessories with a vintage soul. This not only gives the jackets a soft worn-in feel but also makes it a far more sustainable alternative to the average newly produced leather jacket. The company’s approach is the antithesis of fast fashion and anxious design. Deadwood is not about reinventing fashion. Instead Deadwood is about reinventing how we think about fashion. About rebooting iconic styles, gently updating them with a modern touch.
The collections are released bi-annually and contain a large core of classic carry-over styles, all in line with Deadwood’s idea of slow fashion. A Deadwood collection includes Women’s, Men’s and Unisex styles. In 2017 the company also launched its first Children’s collection.
