“My garments come into being when I have a piece of fabric in my hand. I start putting it on the mannequin… bit by bit, with pins and scissors. They take shape, while the details and finishes make the difference.”
Andrès Caballero, class of 1981, Mexican by birth and Milanese by adoption, arrived in the capital of prêt-à-porter in 2001 and studied at Istituto Marangoni before specializing in Haute- Couture at the Paris American Academy in Paris.
His love of Milan and Made in Italy and enormous passion for sartorial art enabled him to create, with his commercial partner, the San Andrès Milano brand which took part in the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana’s “Fashion Incubator” project in 2008.
In 2012 he was a finalist in the “Who In On Next? Competition organized by VOGUE Italia in collaboration with AltaRoma and gained the favour of both the press and buyers.
Being in the limelight opened doors for the major markets in Asia, Russia and Middle East. His Fashion is a vision of the contemporary based on contrasts, in which his cultural roots work perfectly with the continual study of beauty and the high quality of “Made in Italy”.
The process is essentially artisanal: pins, scissors, needle and thread are the day to day tools in Andrès’s professional life. Being able to combine traditional tailoring and modern design is his greatest strength and reflects his true spirit.
